New to Epic Motion? You don’t need dance experience, flexibility, or a certain fitness level to get started. If you’re unsure which class is right for you, reach out or schedule a free consultation and we’ll help you find a good place to begin.
No. Many of our classes are beginner-friendly, and you do not need previous dance, fitness, pole, or aerial experience to get started.
Check the individual class description for any prerequisites or recommended experience.
Start with Intro to Pole.
Intro to Pole introduces basic grips, pole walks, beginner spins, transitions, body awareness, and safety. No previous pole experience, strength, or flexibility is required.
After building the introductory skills, students can progress into Beginner Pole. Students with previous pole experience may also ask about testing into the appropriate level.
Our current pole progression is:
Intro to Pole – For first-time pole students and those building the basics.
Beginner Pole – Foundational spins, transitions, climbing, conditioning, and beginner tricks.
Intermediate Pole – Climbing, body positions, inversions, combinations, strength, and more challenging transitions.
Intermediate & Advanced Pole – Advanced inversions, aerial tricks, holds, combinations, dynamic movement, and higher-level progressions.
Everyone progresses differently. Moving up is based on safe skill development rather than simply how long you have been attending.
No. Strength, flexibility, coordination, and confidence are things you build through class.
Our instructors offer progressions and modifications so you can work at an appropriate level for your body and experience.
Shorts are recommended because skin contact helps you grip the pole safely. A fitted tank top, sports bra, or comfortable athletic top works well.
Please avoid lotions and body oils on the day of class because they can make the poles slippery.
Some higher-level skills may require additional skin contact.
Wear fitted leggings or yoga pants that cover the backs of the knees and a comfortable fitted shirt.
Avoid jewelry, zippers, or clothing that could catch on the aerial equipment. Aerial classes are generally done barefoot.
Yes. Equipment used for regular studio classes is provided unless the class description says otherwise.
Depending on the class, you may want to bring items such as a water bottle, knee pads, yoga mat, or clean indoor shoes.
Absolutely. You do not need to bring a partner or know anyone before coming to class.
Many of our students come to Epic Motion on their own for their first class.
As a general guideline, most Epic Motion classes are designed for ages 15+.
Younger students may participate in many classes with parent or guardian approval. Many of our programs can accommodate students ages 7+, depending on the class.
Some classes are intended for older teens and adults and are not available for younger children, including HIIT Dance, Turn Up & Twerk, and Chair Dance.
If you are registering someone under 15, check the class description or contact us if you are unsure whether the class is a good fit.
Students ages 7 and older generally do not need a parent or guardian to remain at the studio during class.
Children younger than 7 may participate in appropriate activities when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Pole can be taught as an athletic and artistic movement discipline that includes spins, strength, flexibility, coordination, and creative movement.
Age-appropriate instruction focuses on movement, skills, safety, and confidence.
Students under our general age guideline participate only in appropriate classes with parent or guardian approval.
Classes are reserved through Momence.
Advance registration is recommended because class sizes are limited. Visit our Schedule page to see current classes and availability.
Yes. Regular classes generally require at least two registered participants to run.
If enrollment is too low, the class may be canceled. Please watch your Momence notifications for schedule updates.
New students can try an eligible first class free.
The free first class does not apply to leveled classes, workshops, specialty series, or other specialty programs.
Check the schedule or contact us if you are unsure whether the class you want to try qualifies.
Yes. Epic Motion is a nonprofit studio, and part of our mission is making movement, dance, and creative opportunities more accessible.

No. You never have to perform.
Some students come for movement, fitness, creativity, learning new skills, or community. Others choose to participate in showcases, community performances, variety shows, and other performance opportunities.
Performing is completely optional.
That’s okay!
You can contact us with your questions or schedule a Free Consultation. We can talk about your interests, experience, comfort level, and goals and help you decide where to start.
Your class credit is returned to your account, but late cancellations and no-shows are subject to a $15 fee.
Because our classes have limited space, please cancel as early as possible when you know you won’t be able to attend.
Let your instructor know before class about anything that could affect your participation.
Many movements can be modified, but students should work within their own abilities and follow instructor safety guidance.
If you are unsure whether a specific class will work for you, contact us before registering.
Filming may be allowed at designated times or with instructor permission.
Please respect the privacy of other students and get permission before recording or posting anyone else.
